Fox News Guest Charles Hurt: ‘Where Was Jim Acosta’s Apology’ to Trump Supporter Who Flipped Him Off?
Fox News’ Outnumbered used a portion of their Friday show to talk about CNN’s Jim Acosta and his recent moment of connectivity with one of Donald Trump‘s supporters.
As the panel covered the Trump base’s anti-media abuse for Acosta during the president’s recent speech at Fort Myers, they also took note of how he accepted an apology from a Trump supporter who was remorseful about flipping him off. Melissa Francis was uplifted by the “gracious” exchange and called it a “lovely moment,” and wanted to know why Charles Hurt, today’s #OneLuckyGuy, was laughing about it.
This was his reply:
Hurt: Where was Jim Acosta’s apology?
Francis: Come on.
Hurt: The media needs to apologize to that guy and all of them.
Francis: Did you see those people standing there and screaming?
Hurt: Democracy is a loud affair. It’s energetic. People get fired up about stuff. That’s not a bad thing, that’s a good thing.
Francis: Still nice, though, right? Still nice to sit there and say I’m sorry. You can actually accepted it. Can we celebrate the moment?
Francis eventually asked if there’s any chance for a change in political tone ahead of the midterm elections. Jessica Tarlov was glad that Acosta highlighted the moment when it might’ve otherwise gotten lost amid the obscenities and screaming he had to put up with. On the other hand, Dagen McDowell remarked that progress has to start somewhere, but “I don’t expect the media to change, but we can dream.”
“I have said for years, being in the journalism business, reporters are the worst cocktail of arrogance and insecurity,” McDowell said “Like a drink of Pepto-Bismol and gin. That’s not changing.
“What a fantastic note to end on,” Francis responded ambiguously.
