Allies of former President Donald Trump reacted with horror to the shooting at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
In a statement to Mediaite, WABC host Sidney Rosenberg, who regularly has Trump on his radio show, said the shocking news brought him to tears.
“Scared to death for him,” he said. “I’m praying he’s okay. I literally cried. They hate him. They know he’s going to win.”
“Some of us knew this is where things were headed, but now all of us know what is at stake. We were an inch away from the abyss and have been given another chance,” James O’Keefe told Mediaite. “Now is the time for everyone to step up, demonstrate moral courage and stop being a coward. This is America. It doesn’t have to end like this. Be brave and step forward to expose what is happening in our country.”
Eric Bolling, the longtime cable news host and Trump confidante, weighed in: “They tried to assassinate his character. Then they tried to bankrupt him. Then they tried to imprison him. Now they’ve tried to assassinate him.. they failed and failed again. God saved President Trump from the hate that has taken over our country”
Senator J.D. Vance, who is a frontrunner for Trump’s running mate, wrote on X, “Trump campaign saying the president is OK. Thank God. Hope everyone else is safe.”
Vance and other Trump loyalists like Tucker Carlson shared a defiant image of Trump with blood splattered on his face with the American flag waving behind him and sheltered by several Secret Service agents after the shooting.
Disgraced retired general Michael Flynn commented, “This will become a statue in WDC one day!”
Harlan Hill, a pro-Trump political consultant, said to Mediaite, “Just yesterday Biden compared President Trump to a dictator. It’s precisely this type of hyperbolic rhetoric and inflammatory language that led to this assassination attempt.”
Patrick J. Murphy, a frequent Fox News contributor and 32nd Army Secretary shared, “What happened today is heartbreaking. Praying for former President Trump and glad he’s safe. Political violence is never ok.”
Vivek Ramaswamy penned a series of messages on X. One of which he stated, “First they sued him. Then they prosecuted him. Then they tried to take him off the ballot. The only thing more tragic than what just happened is that, if we’re being honest, it wasn’t totally a shock. Biden’s inevitable ritual condemnation of political violence today (when it comes) will be insufficient and irrelevant. No amount of verbiage today changes the toxic national climate that led to this tragedy.”
Elon Musk, who endorsed Trump after the shooting, shared his sentiments on his platform X: “Last time America had a candidate this tough was Theodore Roosevelt” and referred to Trump in a separate tweet as a “martyr.”
