Kevin McCarthy Lauds Trump Rally Cameo from Lawrence Taylor — NFL Hall of Famer Who’s Also a Registered Sex Offender

Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) gave a shout out to Lawrence Taylor, former NFL great and registered sex offender, for attending Donald Trump’s massive New Jersey rally Saturday night.
“Well, that was extraordinary,” McCarthy said about the rally during an appearance on Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo.
“You have to understand — New Jersey. Not a place that people think Republicans would ever compete. But the size of the crowd. Could President Biden get that crowd in the heart of New York? Or in the most Democrat state? Could he do it in California? The answer is, no.”
McCarthy suggested that the size and makeup of the crowd proved that “no one in America believes President Trump would be in a trial today if he was not running for president.”
McCarthy then specifically name dropped Taylor.
“And it just shows last night with that crowd, you’ve got Lawrence Taylor, you have Democrats in that crowd, independents. I would be very concerned if I was in the White House today.”
Trump invited Taylor and Ottis Anderson — both former New York Giants — up to the stage, saying, “You know, they’re my golfing buddies, too!”
Taylor pleaded guilty to lesser charges in a 2011 rape case in order to avoid jail time. He admitted to misdemeanor charges of sexual misconduct and patronizing a prostitute, who was 16-years-old at the time. Taylor said in court that he thought the girl was 19 and legally able to consent. Taylor served six years probation and was required to register as a sex offender.
At the rally, Trump pulled Taylor in for a hug and led him to the microphone.
“I just wanted to say, I grew up a Democrat. And I’ve always been a Democrat. Until I met this man right here,” Taylor said, pointing to Trump. “I tell you what, he won’t have to worry about nobody in my family ever vote for a Democrat again.”
