‘These Are Great Men!’ Fox News Hosts Baffled Over Report That Women Prefer ‘Beta Men’ Over Trump Supporters
Fox News hosts were baffled by a report that some women choose to date based on whether a perspective paramour supports, or loathes, Donald Trump.
Outnumbered’s Emily Compagno began the segment by reading a passage from Amanda Marcotte’s Salon article titled, “It’s a good thing most women don’t want to date Trump voters.” Compagno read:
It’s an amusing truth that comes up with regularity: Men who love Donald Trump struggle on the dating market. This is neither surprising nor regrettable. Supporting Trump is much like refusing to bathe, blowing your nose in your hands or farting loudly on purpose. It’s a repugnant habit that makes you repulsive to normal people. The whole point of dating and marriage is to find happiness, not to spend the rest of one’s days suffering in silence while the racist you live with cackles over Greg Gutfeld’s latest hateful diatribe disguised as “comedy.”
“Women who don’t want to date Trump supporters…I feel sorry for them,” said Rachel Campos Duffy. “They’re going to date, and maybe ultimately marry, a bunch of beta guys who will want to split the check, won’t open the door, won’t protect them. I think that this idea that Trump supporters are somehow repugnant — is repugnant to say that! These are great men! And many of them are what’s keeping this country running. And they’re putting food on the table, and they’re farmers, and they’re factory workers, and they’re soldiers.”
Duffy added that politics matters in a relationship, “Only because politics reflects values.”
“And, isn’t the common denominator being respectful?” Compagnos asked. “If the person within is good and respectful, it doesn’t matter.”
“That was a ‘Basket of Deplorables’ moment for Salon,” Kayleigh McEnany said, referring to Hillary Clinton’s infamous quote.
“We could be on the couch for hours about how we got here,” Sandra Smith said. “But I would like to get back to a place where you don’t date people based on their party.”
