‘They Look Good, Right?’ Trump Calls Crypto Leaders ‘Male Models’
President Donald Trump called a group of cryptocurrency leaders “male models” as they stood behind him in the White House on Wednesday, asking the crowd, “They look good, right?”
Trump hosted cryptocurrency executives and industry leaders a day after the Securities and Exchange Commission unveiled a proposal that would allow some cryptocurrency token offerings to bypass securities regulations. In June, the president revealed that his family’s crypto businesses brought in a whopping $1.4 billion just last year.
After hearing from Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev and Kraken CEO Arjun Sethi, among others, Trump returned to the podium to add, “And if you have any questions, or if anybody else, uh, of this very distinguished — would somebody like to say something?”
He gestured to the gaggle behind him and continued, “My male models who happen to be genius? They’re brilliant, and they look good, right?” The president then turned over the microphone to Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, known both for their legal dispute with Mark Zuckerberg over the founding of Facebook and for co-founding Gemini.
Now, this isn’t the first time Trump has made similar comments.
In May, Trump complained that he wished he looked like “beautiful” NFL quarterback Jaxson Dart. “I said, ‘Is he a male model, or what?’ He’s a handsome guy, like a beautiful guy,” the president told Lara Trump in a Fox News interview. Also in May, he told a rally crowd that Dart had “legs like tree trunks.”
That wasn’t all for that month, with the president directing the crowd at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy’s graduation ceremony to “look at the muscles on this guy.”
And in June, he said Olympic speedskater Jordan Stolz’s leg was “like a rock.” Hosting Stolz at the White House in August, he added, “Legs — strong legs. Very strong legs.”
