Trump Claims It’s Actually Democrats Who ‘Are Willing to Violate the U.S. Constitution’ to Win a Presidential Election

Former President Donald Trump served up an all-time helping of projection on Wednesday night, telling rally-goers in Iowa that President Joe Biden is trying to stay in power by violating the Constitution.

Trump is currently under federal criminal indictment in four jurisdictions. Two of those indictments stem from his attempt to overturn the 2020 election. After losing that contest, Trump falsely claimed the election was rigged and pressured Republican officials in states he lost to subvert election results. In at least one instance he demanded Georgia’s secretary of state “find” him 11,780 votes, which would have put him over the top. The former president also urged his vice president to refuse to recognize the results of the election as the presiding officer over their certification in Congress, which he did not have the constitutional authority to do.

“Crooked Joe Biden and the far-left lunatics are desperate to stop us by any means necessary,” Trump told the crowd. “They’re willing to violate the U.S. Constitution at levels never seen before in order to win an election. They’re weaponizing law enforcement for high-level election interference because they’re just losing so badly at the polls.”

Last year, Trump called for the “termination” of parts of the Constitution.

“Do you throw the Presidential Election Results of 2020 OUT and declare the RIGHTFUL WINNER, or do you have a NEW ELECTION?” he wrote on Truth Social last year. “A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution.”
