‘Mad Dog’ Rages at 55 Seconds of Taylor Swift Coverage During Super Bowl LVIII: ‘It Is a Football Game!’

Although CBS kept Taylor Swift’s screen time under a minute during Super Bowl LVIII, Chris “Mad Dog” Russo still felt it was too much.

Before the big game, Russo spoke with CBS Sports President Sean McManus. When McManus laid out the statistics proving the network doesn’t actually show Swift that much during Kansas City Chiefs game, Russo was momentarily swayed.

That all changed when he watched the Super Bowl.

“So, we talked about the Taylor Swift coverage,” Russo said on First Take, “and he gave me the statistic — and like an idiot, I bought it. In the AFC Championship game, she was on for 38 seconds. Alright, that sounds like not that big a deal… This past week, she was on — and it was an overtime game — for 55 seconds. Alright, doesn’t sound that bad.

“They went to that box 12 times! Twelve times! [Travis Kelce] only caught one ball in first half! I’m not interested! They couldn’t pick out Len Dawson out of a lineup, for crying out loud! You think you know who Curley Culp was! I mean, 10, 12 times! Twelve times! He had one catch in the first half!”

Russo admitted that he “loves” the relationship between the two, but wants the NFL to focus less on that and more on the the actual game.

“But it’s a football game!” Russo continued. “That’s what it is! It is a football, football game! Now you know why fans get annoyed in Buffalo and Baltimore! They think there’s a conspiracy!”
