Troy Aikman Finally Acknowledges the Internet Meme Based on His Shocking Resemblance to Jay-Z
One of the great joys of the internet is the moment a celebrity acknowledges a legendary running joke.
On Monday Night Football, ESPN announcer Troy Aikman finally let everyone know he’s well aware of his uncanny resemblance to rapper Jay-Z.
With a little over seven minutes left in the second quarter of the game between the Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Chargers, the broadcast showed some of the stars in attendance at SoFi Stadium. The first one shown was Jay-Z.
“Jay-Z is in the house tonight,” announcer Joe Buck said, “reaching for a refreshment.”
That’s when Aikman chose to interject with something he’s noticed online.
“Yeah, there’s a meme that’s going around that,” Aikman said. “People think that’s my doppelganger, me and Jay-Z. How about that?”
Buck immediately burst into laughter while acknowledging that he’s also seen the joke online.
“What’s gotten into you, man?” Buck said through his laughter. “Something’s off.”
For those unaware of the joke, the idea of Aikman and Jay-Z favoring one another may seem ridiculous. However, there was one specific screenshot taken year ago that shows how surprisingly close it is.

It’s been an interesting last few weeks for the internet. In late September, former football player Andrew Luck came to Thursday Night Football dressed at Captain Andrew Luck, the popular meme comparing his likeness to that of a Civil War soldier.
