NY Judge Places Gag Order On Trump For Attacking His Law Clerk
Arthur Engoron, the judge presiding over Donald Trump’s civil fraud trial, has placed the former president under a gag order over his now-deleted attack on Engoron’s law clerk.
Throughout the trial, Trump has been on a continuous rampage against Engoron, New York Attorney General Letitia James and his other foes. Trump’s vitriol went to a new level, however, when he got on Truth Social and posted the name and face of Engoron’s principal law clerk, Allison R. Greenfield, which included a picture of her standing with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
“Why is Judge Engoron’s Principal Law Clerk, Allison R. Greenfield, palling around with Chuck Schumer?” the post asked. Trump then linked to Greenfield’s Instagram account while seething in a now-deleted post, “Schumer’s girlfriend, Alison R. Greenfield, is running this case against me. How disgraceful! This case should be dismissed immediately!!” The post was removed pursuant to Engoron’s order as the judge declared “personal attacks on members of my court staff are unacceptable, not appropriate.”
As Mediaite’s Colby Hall noted, “by all accounts, Senator Schumer is happily married, so the implication of “girlfriend” here, even if said in jest, is grossly misleading and irresponsible.” Furthermore, Trump’s deletion of the Truth Social post doesn’t undo the fact that his post was also screenshot and sent out across his email network.
