Jake Tapper Reacts to Trump’s ‘Mobby’ Threat to Haley Donors After Iowa and NH Races: ‘It’s Been Two Contests!’

CNN’s Jake Tapper made a mob reference to describe Donald Trump’s threat to permanently defrock future Nikki Haley donors of their MAGA status.

The former president gave the ultimatum after Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel all but declared him the GOP nominee.

“Donald Trump on his social media site, Truth Social wrote, quote, ‘Nikki Birdbrain Haley — that’s his clever nickname for her — is very bad for the Republican Party, and indeed our country. Anyone who makes a contribution to Birdbrain from this moment forth, will be permanently barred from the MAGA camp.'”

Tapper said Haley retweeted Trump’s post and included a link where supporters could donate to her campaign.

“But, again, it’s been two contests!” Tapper exclaimed, referring to Trump’s wins in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Former Obama official Nayyera Haq added, “It goes in the face of what we know party politics to be, which people think are corrupt anyway, and don’t like how parties are controlled by those higher up and the elites. But it’s still a process to go through, and for Trump and his cronies to come in and say, ‘Forget all that, just declare the winner,’ is more along the lines of an authoritarian mindset.”

“It’s a little mobby,” Tapper declared.

Contributor Gloria Borger asked, “What happens when you get excommunicated from MAGA? That’s what I want to know. Do you have a card they rip up and say, ‘Ok, you’re not going to donate anymore? We’re not going to take your money?'”

“No, but If he wins again, well, the RNC won’t hire you. And if he wins again you don’t get to join the administration. There’s a whole bunch of reasons,” Tapper said.

“That would happen anyway,” Borger added.

“Well, the Never Trumpers learned that the first time around and this is the reminder to everybody else who may be on the fence, that this is going to continue to happen,” Haq said.
