Former President Donald Trump travelled to Capitol Hill to meet with congressional Republicans on Thursday, and made some head-scratchingly bizarre comments.

It is the ex-president’s first visit back to Washington, D.C. since he became the presumptive Republican presidential nominee and a convicted felon, and he will be having a series of closed-door meetings with GOP members of Congress, including some of his vice presidential contenders.

Punchbowl News’ Jake Sherman live-tweeted the meeting, including little tidbits about the Republicans singing happy birthday to Trump, who turns 78 tomorrow, and Trump saying that he thought Speaker of the House  Mike Johnson (R-LA) was doing a terrific job.

Then Sherman added an update about comments Trump made about former Johnson’s predecessor, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), that perplexed even him, starting his tweet with five question marks.

“Nancy Pelosi’s daughter is a whacko, her daughter told me if things were different Nancy and I would be perfect together, there’s an age difference though,” Sherman wrote, saying it was “close to exact quote” from Trump.

“I [don’t] know what this means, really,” Sherman added. “But this is what he told a group of House Rs.”
