‘Absolutely True!’ Steve Doocy Claims ‘High Ranking’ White House Official Confirmed Report on Failed Ouster of Jean Pierre
Citing a “high-ranking White House official,” Steve Doocy confirmed a New York Post report about Karine Jean-Pierre’s failed ouster as President Joe Biden’s Press Secretary.
On Friday, the New York Post reported, “Top aides to President Biden secretly hatched a plan this past fall to replace White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre by recruiting outside allies to nudge her out the door.” Steven Nelson reported for the New York Post:
“There were a number of people she asked to engage Karine,” said one source who heard of the strategy directly from Dunn, whose role as senior adviser has been filled during the past three presidencies by Jared Kushner (Donald Trump), Valerie Jarrett (Barack Obama) and Karl Rove (George W. Bush).
The source also told The Post that Dunn had claimed White House chief of staff Jeff Zients knew about and supported the cloak-and-dagger scheme to push Jean-Pierre out of the West Wing.
“There was an effort to have some outside folks who Karine knows and trusts talk to her about why leaving last fall would have made a lot of sense for her and her career,” the source said, calling it an “effort to encourage her to move along.”
The news made barely a ripple as the entire political media world seemed to be focused either on former President Donald Trump’s trial or on planning for the weekend’s White House Correspondent’s Dinner.
After Jacqui Heinrich briefly mentioned the report from the White House lawn for Fox & Friends, co-host Doocy confirmed the reporting, at least according to an unnamed high-ranking White House official who told him as much during Saturday night’s WHCD.
“At that event, I was there, and a White House official, a very high-ranking person, told me that the story was absolutely true,” Doocy said. They would like her to step aside, but she just won’t go.”
Perhaps one reason why the New York Post report didn’t make many waves is that Nelson is probably more known for asking Trump about the Tiger King than any other inside reporting within the Biden administration.
