Bill Maher’s friendly dinner with President Donald Trump at the White House didn’t do much to convince the comedian the president’s first 100 days in office were a success.

Maher, along with Mike Pompeo and others, shared their thoughts on Trump’s first 100 days in office with The Free Press this week. Maher called them a “shitshow,” a line he previously threw out on Real Time last week when describing the current administration.

Maher took issue with Trump’s tariffs, deportations, lawsuits against the media, and more.

The Real Time host said:

In a word: shitshow. I said after he won the election, I’m not going to pre-hate anything. But after 100 days, there are probably 100 things to legitimately hate, starting with disappearing people, the inefficiency of DOGE, ignoring the Supreme Court, killing people overseas with drastic aid cuts, firing the guy in charge of his election-integrity office because he won’t say 2020 was rigged, tariff-related market collapse, America no longer being seen as a safe place, the third-term talk, suing the media, Andrew Tate.

Trump’s first months have been “objectively bad,” he added.

“I want to emphasize: None of my disapproval for any of this comes from reflexive Republican opposition. On all these issues, it’s just objectively bad. And they know that, too,” he said.

Maher visited the White House and had dinner with Trump in a meeting that was put together by MAGA-loyal musician Kid Rock. Rock and UFC head Dana White were also in attendance.

Maher called Trump “gracious” and “measured” during their chat, which included Trump signing a list of insults he’s thrown the comedian’s way over the years.

“You can hate me for it, but I’m not a liar. Trump was gracious and measured,” he said. “And why isn’t that in other settings- I don’t know, and I can’t answer, and it’s not my place to answer. I’m just telling you what I saw, and I wasn’t high.”
