CNN’s Erin Burnett Hits Back at Sarah Sanders: The U.S. Isn’t a ‘Military Dictatorship’
— OutFrontCNN (@OutFrontCNN) October 20, 2017
On Friday night, CNN’s Erin Burnett weighed in on Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders‘ remarks when she said it was “highly inappropriate” to “debate a four-star general” like Gen. John Kelly.
“The breaking news,” Burnett began her program. “A military dictatorship – that appears to be what the White House thinks the United States is.”
Burnett rebuked Sanders’ claim, saying “it is appropriate” to question the general. She then turned her attention to President Trump, insisting he has “no problem” insulting generals let alone questioning them and pulled numerous tweets he made slamming generals during the election, labeling them “hypocrisy.”
After dissecting Kelly’s criticisms of Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-FL), she then played a clip of Trump from last year where he talked about funding a Vietnam memorial in New York City.
“So Kelly is okay with Trump bragging about funding a memorial but attacks a congresswoman incorrectly for doing the same thing?” Burnett asked.
