CSPAN Caller Shares Heartbreaking Story of Own Abuse: Christine Ford Testimony is ‘Breaking My Heart’

After Christine Blasey Ford made her opening remarks to the Senate Judiciary Committee detailing her allegations against Supreme Court justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh, CSPAN 3 opened up their lines for callers to voice their opinions on the hearing.

This set up a stark contrast between the two male callers who thought Ford is lying and a woman caller who recounted molestation she experienced as a child, which the hearing reminded her of.

“So far [in the hearing], you want the truth about it, she’s lying like a dog,” said CSPAN’s first caller, an independent named James from Indiana. “She said so much inconsistency in her statements that you could drive a mack truck through.”

When asked to name one inconsistency in Ford’s comments, the caller could not, and instead gave a rambling answer that ended with him swearing he could “take” the Kavanaugh accuser to “the woodshed” if he was her interrogator.

The next caller, a Republican named Tracy from Wyoming, accused Ford of being “very scripted.”

“It’s like she is really putting on an act,” Tracy said. “All of her inconsistencies and what not, she’s just — you can just tell she’s lying.”

Brenda from Missouri, a caller on CSPAN’s Democrat line, had a very different reaction to the allegations:

“I’m a 76-year-old woman who was sexually molested in the second grade. This brings back so much pain. Thought I was over it, but it’s not. You will never forget it. You get confused and you don’t understand it, but you never forget what happened to you. Without my family I would have never been able to go through this and now I’m 76 years old and I thought I was over it until I heard what happened to someone else and it is just — it is such a shame.”

She concluded her heartbreaking comments by saying, “I thought I was over this and I have not brought this up for years, until I heard this testimony and it is just breaking my heart.”
