Dan Goldman Refuses to Throw Rashida Tlaib Under the Bus on Fox News: ‘Everyone Comes to Congress With Their Own Lived Experiences’
Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) declined to criticize Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) on Wednesday after the latter refused to answer a question about the terrorist attacks perpetrated by Hamas in Israel last weekend.
More than 1,200 people were killed and more than 100 were abducted. In response, Israel has cut off the supply of water, electricity, and food to the Gaza Strip, which Hamas controls. About 2.3 million people live in the territory, including about one million children.
On Wednesday’s Special Report on Fox News, host Bret Baier asked Goldman about a video in which Fox reporter Hillary Vaughn asked Tlaib on Tuesday about some of the atrocities.
“Congresswoman, Hamas terrorists have cut off babies’ heads and burned children alive,” Vaughn said as they walked the halls of Congress. “Do you support Israel’s rights to defend themselves against this brutality?”
The reporter repeated her question, but Tlaib refused to answer. Baier played the clip for Goldman, who just returned from Israel, before asking him to opine.
“Well, look, everyone comes to Congress with their own lived experiences,” Goldman said. “And Rashida Tlaib is Palestinian American. So, she has family in the Palestinian territories and has a particular view. But she is one person. She does not represent the Democratic Party. And what you are hearing from the leaders of the Democratic Party – no one more emphatic than President Biden yesterday who gave one of the most stirring and pro-Israel speeches that any president has ever given – is that the Democratic Party stands firmly behind Israel.”
Goldman also appeared on Fox & Friends earlier in the day where he said “Look, there are fringe parts of many different parties.”
