‘Down Goes the Fraser Fir!’ Fox & Friends Delight in White House Christmas Tree Falling as Metaphor for Biden Admin
Fox & Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade channeled his inner Howard Cosell while doing a bit about the recent falling of the White House Christmas Tree due to high winds.
After a decent wind-up that explained the details of the story, Kilmeade delivered a solid payoff with “Down goes the Fraser fir!” which was a clear reference to Cosell’s famous “Down goes Frazier!” call of a Joe Frazier knockdown at the hands of Mohammed Ali in January of 1973.
At issue is the falling of the National Christmas Tree near the White Hous which was knocked over Tuesday evening by strong winds. The National Park Service said the 40-foot tree fell as a result.
“After assessing the tree’s condition and replacing a snapped cable, the tree is now upright,” park service spokeswoman Jasmine Shanti said in a statement shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday evening, according to NBC.
While Kilmeade’s bit was done in fun, the segment then took a more partisan turn, as Ainsley Earhardt read a tweet from noted Twitter troll Jim Jordan and his House Judiciary GOP social media account that read, “National Christmas tree falls down perfectly summing up Joe Biden’s presidency.”
Lawrence Jones delighted in the fallen Christmas tree spectacle, adding, “I love it. I love it. It’s a perfect explanation of what’s happened in the country. I mean, we’re just falling over — gas prices, inflation. When you go to the grocery store ….crime… you got freaking races just marching in the middle of the street.” Races marching in the middle of the street? Huh?
Kilmeade brought the tone back to a more fun-loving one, pivoting back to the “resiliency of this nation” while a video of a crane lifting the tree played for viewers to see.
Happy Holidays y’all! Or … Something something war on Christmas?
