Election Denier Lara Trump Says Republicans ‘Speak in Truth and Facts’
Republican National Committee Co-Chair Lara Trump, who has peddled false claims about the 2020 election being stolen, alleged that many voters “get their news from the wrong information sources.”
Trump’s father-in-law Donald Trump lost that election and baselessly claimed it was rigged against him. In the two months following the contest, he pressured officials in states he lost to overturn the election results. When that failed, he urged his vice president to reject the results as the presiding officer over the election’s certification. After Mike Pence declined to do so, a mob of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol.
Lara Trump, who has claimed there was no way President Joe Biden legitimately received the 81 million votes he got in 2020, appeared at Turning Point USA’s convention in Detroit on Friday. The RNC co-chair told those in attendance that they can help make the case for her father-in-law to return to the White House by touting his record against Biden’s
“So, you have to make that contrast for people out there because there are some people who watch the wrong thing out there, get their news from the wrong information sources, and they have been bamboozled a little bit shall we say,” she stated.
She told audience members that they don’t have to like what her father-in-law posts on social media, but should focus on his policies instead.
“And that’s the difference between Republicans and Democrats,” she continued. “We speak in truth and facts on this side. The other side is all emotion-based. Bring people back to the truth. Bring people back to the facts.”
Donald Trump’s election lies are essentially canon on the right, as 69% of Republicans believe the election was stolen. Last month, Lara Trump insisted, “It’s pretty obvious that Donald Trump does accept election results.”
