Former ICE Director Begs Nancy Pelosi: ‘Love Your Country More Than You Hate This President’
On Monday, Thomas Homan, the former U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) acting director, implored Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to consider taking a federal funding deal that includes money for a border wall because it is part of her job to keep citizens safe.
“I would say, Nancy Pelosi, you need to love your country a little more than you hate this president,” he said. “I mean, your number one responsibility is to protect the Americans and secure our border. We have already shown how a wall, or barrier, can be effective.”
Homan added the stubbornness from Democrats on the issue boils down to politics.
“They don’t want this president to have a win on the border, but what they don’t understand is [when] the president wins on this issue, America wins,” Homan continued. “America is more secure, less drugs get across, less guns get across, less illegal immigration.”
The partial government shutdown is now in its third week with neither side appearing to be ready to compromise.
President Donald Trump announced he will be addressing the nation from the Oval Office Tuesday evening to explain “the Humanitarian and National Security crisis on our Southern Border.”
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders also announced Trump will be making a visit to the U.S.-Mexico border on Thursday.
“President @realDonaldTrump will travel to the Southern border on Thursday to meet with those on the frontlines of the national security and humanitarian crisis. More details will be announced soon,” she tweeted.
