Fox & Friends Isn’t Sure Trump Has Made Border More Secure Since Obama: ‘It Seems Like Chaos’
Welcome to Woke Fox & Friends.
Well, that might be a bit of comedic hyperbole, but in recent days, the traditional Trump loyalist morning show has exhibited some remarkably critical takes on President Donald Trump.
Earlier on Thursday, we featured a segment in which co-host Brian Kilmeade laced into Trump’s Twitter fiat of Syrian troop withdrawal as “stunning and irresponsible.” In this segment, however, the issue is border security in the context of Trump’s threatened government shutdown if he cannot get congressional funding ($5B!) for a border wall (Magic Eightball says: Outlook not so good.)
Guest co-host Ed Henry appeared to play the part of “good cop” and defended Trump’s immigration policy, asking of his curvy couch mate “The border is more secure now than it was under President Obama, right?”
A visibly frustrated Kilmeade replied “I don’t know. Uh, I don’t know — it seems like chaos.” What he didn’t say out loud, but his thought bubble read was “have you SEEN our caravan coverage?!”
Fox News offered extensive coverage of migrants approaching the southern U.S. border in a manner that seemed by many to be fear-mongering in the run-up to the midterm elections. So for Henry to suggest that the border is more secure flouts the narrative established by his employer over the past few months. Ironically, there are many experts who believe that the border IS secure and that the chaotic description put forth by Kilmeade is simply a “fake news”narrative.
Confused? That’s the point.
