Fox News Anchor Calls AOC ‘Insidious and Threatening’ Over Criticism of Israel
Fox News insists that Harris Faulkner is a straight news anchor and not an opinion-based host. But however you label the star of the network’s 11 a.m. program, The Faulkner Focus, it’s clear unafraid to add a strong — and often partisan — point of view to her show.
Take, for example, a recent segment that focused on Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who condemned Israel’s response to the brutal attacks by Hamas terrorists as “war crimes.” Faulkner took issue with that description but went further in condemning the most progressive members of Congress, which colloquially is often referred to as “The Squad.”
“There are some people on the bottom right of your screen inside elected officials, inside the House of Representatives, the liberal squad, as they’ve been nicknamed,” Faulkner opened — referencing an image of AOC, with Reps. Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar and Ayanna Pressley. “But potentially they’re they’re far more insidious and threatening than the word squad would ever tell you because they are ramping up their attacks and their hate against Israel. The rhetoric, all of it despite intense backlash. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, congresswoman of New York, is accusing Israel of war crimes.”
She then ran a clip in which Ocasio-Cortez said:
Hamas has absolutely engaged in horrific attacks. However, we do know as well that war crimes do not constitute and are not an appropriate response for other war crimes. I have long found the ignoring and sidelining of Palestinians in the US House of Representatives, the humanity of Palestinian populations. In the five years that have been in Congress, quite shocking.
Israel has been bombing Gaza in retaliation for Hamas’s brutal atrocities of Oct. 7. While the death toll remains unclear, photographic evidence that has emerged of dead babies is profoundly troubling and at least indicates some evidence supporting Ocasio-Cortez’s condemnation.
But Faulkner appeared only to care about the criticism of Israel and fairly called out Rep. Tlaib after she “tripled down on Hamas claims that Israel carried out the Gaza hospital explosion, and she wants an independent investigation. ”
Faulkner put on her news anchor persona and correctly reported “The hospital wasn’t hit. Islamic Jihad hit the parking lot outside the hospital.” She then noted how”Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene is introducing a resolution today to censure Tlaib, accusing her of anti-Semitism.
