Fox News Host Reminds Viewers Trump ‘Still Lost’ After Former President Comments on 2020 Election

Fox News host Neil Cavuto reacted to Donald Trump boasting about receiving significantly more votes in 2020 than he did in 2016 by noting, “He still lost.”

Trump visited the southern border in Eagle Pass, Texas on Thursday and delivered a speech about immigration. His remarks were nearly indistinguishable from his campaign kickoff speech in 2015 when he railed against immigrants and crime. This time, he lashed out repeatedly at what he called “migrant crime” – a term that both Trump and Fox News have deployed with greater frequency as November’s election nears.

Separately on Thursday, President Joe Biden met with Border Patrol agents in Brownsville, Texas.

Trump has falsely claimed the 2020 election was rigged in Biden’s favor. While the former president did not repeat his false claims of voter fraud in his speech on Thursday, he tip-toed around it.

“We were doing a great job,” Trump said. “And that’s where it stood, and then we had an election that we ended up getting many millions more votes than we did. We did much better in 2020 than we ever even thought about doing in 2016. And very bad things happened and from that moment, it was a whole different ballgame in Texas and all over.”

Minutes later, Fox’s Your World, which had been carrying the speech, cut away.

“We’re continuing to monitor this,” Cavuto said. “Just one slight thing I wanted to add because when you hear it – and you heard from Donald Trump about the 2020 election and he got millions more votes. In fact, he did get millions more votes. He still lost that election. That is not in doubt anymore. That’s not being debated anymore.”
