‘How Long is the Pain Going to Last?’ Fox & Friends Implore Trump to Announce Trade Deals to ‘Calm People Down’
The hosts of Fox & Friends all agreed that President Donald Trump needs to start announcing trade deals, arguing that the American people — and the stock market — need some good news to calm down.
Trump announced a 90-day pause on his controversial and draconian tariff policy, which he had announced on April 2, referring to it as “Liberation Day.” Since then, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and numerous stock market indices have fallen off precipitously, with many individuals seeing their retirement savings decrease by close to 20%.
Trump recently boasted of many deals being worked on during a press availability with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Thursday afternoon, but declined to mention any other than that there was a 100% chance of a deal with the EU.
“I don’t want to impact the negotiations in any way, but I think it would be great for the market. It would be for the country if we could get some readouts on how these negotiations are going so you can calm people down just a little bit,” said Lawrence Jones. “I think people just don’t know how long the pain is gonna last? If we could just get a little information of how it’s going, I think you’d be great.”
Ainsley Earhardt chimed in to agree, saying, “Yeah, if you talk to Republicans, they say, ‘I just want some wins. I want a few deals so that we can say, uh, I told you so, right?’ Donald Trump knows what he’s doing. The art of the deal. That’s what he is known for. And so, um, I would like to see a few deals done over the next few days or maybe next week or the next two weeks. Just — I agree with you to calm down the markets a little bit and calm down the American public.”
“Right, because we are getting money from the tariffs and the president is pointing out that money is coming in because of that,” added Brian Kilmeade. “But in the big picture, we want deals with allies and businesses need some certainty, especially the small businesses. So, we’ll see what goes.”
