‘I’m Not Gonna Be Nice!’ Trump Clowns Those Who Thought He’d Change After Assassination Attempt

Former President Donald Trump unequivocally dismissed the idea that he has changed in the wake of the attempt on his life earlier this month.

Trump was shot in the ear at a July 13 rally in a failed assassination attempt that killed one attendee and wounded two others. Several news outlets suggested that Trump, 78, had emerged from the incident a changed man.

Since then, President Joe Biden announced he will not seek reelection and has thrown his support behind Vice President Kamala Harris, who has already secured enough delegates to win the nomination.

“These are nasty people, the Democrats,” Trump said on Wednesday at a rally in Charlotte, North Carolina. “We better beat them or we’re not gonna have a country left. You’re not gonna have a country left. So now we have a new victim to defeat. Lyin’ Kamala Harris. Lyin’ – L-Y-I-N apostrophe.”

The crowd booed upon hearing the vice president’s name.

“The most incompetent and far left vice president in American history,” Trump continued before predicting he will win in “an epic landslide” in North Carolina. “And we will take back that beautiful White House and we will very simply make America great again.”

Trump continued his attacks on Harris – “the radical left lunatic”– and then reassured his audience that he is not, in fact, going to be nice:

You know, I was supposed to be nice. They say something happened to me when I got shot. I became nice.

[CROWD LAUGHS]

And when you’re dealing with these people. They’re very dangerous people. When you’re dealing with them, you can’t be too nice. You really can’t be. So, if you don’t mind, I’m not gonna be nice! Is that ok?

The crowd responded by cheering wildly and chanting, “TRUMP! TRUMP! TRUMP!”
