Jeff Flake: I Haven’t Ruled Out Challenging Trump in 2020, But ‘Somebody’ in the GOP Needs To

Outgoing Senator Jeff Flake emphasized again on CNN today that someone in the GOP should be primarying President Donald Trump in the 2020 election.

Flake called for Republicans to run against Trump earlier this year, but he repeated that call today in an interview with Jim Acosta.

Acosta asked if that challenger would be him. Flake said, “There are others that seem more willing than I am. I’ve been doing this for 18 years now. It’s––it’s nice to look forward to a little break. But somebody does need to challenge the President.”

“I haven’t ruled it out,” Flake said. “But somebody needs to. I think that the country needs to be reminded what it means to be conservative, certainly on the Republican side, and what it means to be decent as well, because we need a lot more of that in our politics.”
