Jen Psaki Urges Hunter Biden ‘Please Stop Talking in Public’ After Defying Subpoena: ‘This is Not Helpful to Any of Them’

The way MSNBC host Jen Psaki sees it, Hunter Biden didn’t do anyone any favors by defying the the House Oversight Committee’s subpoena and publicly refusing to give closed-door testimony.

The former Biden White House press secretary was on Meet The Press Sunday morning, where Kristen Welker asked if President Joe Biden’s son helped or hurt his father with his news conference stunt in front of the U.S. Capitol. Psaki hypothesized that Biden’s White House team winced over his son’s antics, saying that “If you’re sitting in the White House right now, you’re like ‘Please, Hunter Biden, we know your dad loves you. Please stop talking in public.'”

“This is not helpful to any of them for him to be out there,” Psaki said, “but at the same time, the president loves his son. That takes precedent over anything else.”

Psaki continued to stress President Biden’s love and concern for his son, noting that some voters could find endearing. Nonetheless, she stuck to her core point that “the White House would like him to probably go away right now.”

House Republicans have signaled their intent to hold Hunter Biden in contempt of Congress, and political observers have suggested that his press conference did nothing to help his position. Hunter’s legal troubles also remain a political liability for his father as the House of Representatives just moved forward with an impeachment inquiry into the president.
