Jesse Ventura Tells CNN He Was Nearly RFK Jr.’s Running Mate –Then Seconds Later Endorses Someone Else

Jesse Ventura endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in the November election just moments after saying he came in “second” place as the choice for Robert F. Kennedy’s running mate.

Ventura, a former wrestler and governor of Minnesota, joined CNN’s Laura Coates on Friday night and said he’s being “selfish” with his vote for Harris over “friend” Kennedy Jr.

“I met with Bobby Kennedy last winter. We met for three hours. Apparently, I came in second. He chose his woman [Nicole] Shanahan as running mate. Bobby’s still a friend of mine, but I’ll tell you where I stand right now. I’m going to be selfish,” Ventura told Coates.

He added that he wants to be able to see the first woman elected president just like he got to see the first Black man, former President Barack Obama, get elected.

“A few years ago I got the opportunity to see the United States elect its first Black president. I didn’t think that could ever happen, and they even reelected him. Well, now I’m going to be selfish again. I’ve only got a few elections to go. I’m 73 years old now, so the window is closing. I want to be alive to see the first woman president of the United States of America,” he said.

Ventura argued women are better suited to come up with longer term solutions to issues like abortion and said men have had their chance in the commander in chief role.

“It’s time for a woman president,” he said. “We men have have screwed it up enough.”

Ventura previously accused Kennedy Jr. of choosing “money over votes” with his pick of Shanahan as his running mate.

“He chose money over votes, I guess, because his running mate is filthy rich, and he has got to get ballot access, which is the gorilla in the room,” he said.
