Joe Miller: Alaska’s Senate Race Still Not Over

As we reported earlier, Lisa Murkowski has been declared the winner of Alaska’s U.S. Senate race. But to her Republican challenger Joe Miller, it just never ends. “It’s never over until the count’s done,” he told Neil Cavuto on Fox News, claiming that he was only 2,000 votes behind Murkowski. “We owe it to the voters of the state of Alaska to continue the count, to make sure it’s done properly.” Cavuto cast doubt upon Miller’s math, pointing out that it’s nearly impossible for Miller to make up the supposed 2,000-vote gap, let alone the 10,000-vote gap that is said to exist. When asked point blank whether he would request a recount, Miller replied, “We may.”

Miller claims that his objectives are selfless. He told Cavuto, “We want to pursue this to ensure there’s integrity. … We’re going to do it even if there is a significant amount of political pressure for us to pull back.” He later added that he didn’t care about how this might affect his future political career, because he’s doing this for the people, not for himself.

“It’s not even, at this point, whether Joe wins, loses, or draws. It’s a question as to whether or not we have consistency applied.”
