Kara Swisher Says Super Bowl Will Mean ‘MAGA Tears Everywhere’ No Matter Who Wins

CNN contributor Kara Swisher predicted on Tuesday that the Super Bowl matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will result in “MAGA tears everywhere” no matter who is victorious.

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has drawn the ire of some conservatives over his Bud Light ads and Pfizer commercials encouraging people to get vaccinated. And last year, he began dating Taylor Swift, who endorsed Joe Biden in 2020. The 49ers, meanwhile, hail from, well, San Francisco.

Reacting to reports that former President Donald Trump and his allies were planning to unleash a “holy war” against Swift if she backed Biden’s reelection campaign, Swisher criticized the plan.

“It makes you look old,” Swisher told CNN anchor Jake Tapper. “It makes you look like that old man shaking his fist at the internet kind of meme.”

Swisher questioned whether the Trump campaign would “be against ice cream next because Joe Biden eats a lot of it,” before arguing, “It’s bizarre and really wrongheaded because she really does have a platform well beyond even theirs.”

She continued:

They should embrace her, she’s a capitalist, she made billions of dollars for the economy, she– you know, the Fed even said she could’ve kept us out of recession, along with Beyonce and Barbie. It’s just– it’s inexplicable why they are doing this. I see why they are trying to impugn her, but it’s just not gonna work, and now she’s going to the Super Bowl, so– and the other choice is San Francisco, so MAGA tears everywhere I guess.

Noting that Kelce’s brother Jason Kelce plays for the Philadelphia Eagles, Tapper replied, “I’m an Eagles fan, but even I have to like be swept up in this beautiful relationship with– I mean, it’s the wrong Kelce brother, but like, I’m happy for him.”

On Monday, former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy took aim at the couple, tweeting, “I wonder who’s going to win the Super Bowl next month. And I wonder if there’s a major presidential endorsement coming from an artificially culturally propped-up couple this fall.”

That same day, Newsmax host Greg Kelly lashed out at Swift “idolatry” and said he was “over this new boyfriend,” while on Tuesday, Trump 2024 National Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told Swift to “stick to writing songs.”

“This woman has made a career off of writing songs about picking the wrong guy. We should not trust her to pick the wrong guy in this presidential election,” Leavitt declared.

Swift – who had previously kept out of politics – endorsed Biden’s presidential campaign in 2020. A few years prior, in 2018, Swift also endorsed a Democratic challenger to Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN).
