Kavanaugh Apologizes for Turning Sen. Klobuchar’s Question About His Drinking Back on Her
Brett Kavanaugh apologized during his Senate hearing tonight after losing his cool minutes earlier at Senator Amy Klobuchar.
Klobuchar asked Kavanaugh questions about his drinking when he was in high school in college, noting at one point that her own father has struggled with alcoholism.
She directly asked him if he ever “drank so much that you can’t remember what happened or part of what happened the night before.”
He responded, “You’re asking about blackout. I don’t know, have you?”
After the Senate Judiciary Committee came back from break, Kavanaugh seemed to realize he stepped in it, because he said this:
“She asked me a question at the end that I responded by asking her a question, and I’m sorry I did that. This is a tough process, I’m sorry about that.”
Klobuchar said she appreciates hearing that, adding again that people with parents who are alcoholics are careful about drinking.
