Megyn Kelly Fires Back at Avenatti After He Says She Should Be ‘Ashamed’ For Questioning Kavanaugh Accuser

Stormy Daniels attorney Michael Avenatti also represents Julie Swetnick, who claims that Circuit Court Judge and Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was part of a gang rape ring in the 1980s. He’s also in the midst of a public fight with NBC’s Megyn Kelly, herself an attorney and former litigator.

It started with a segment on Monday’s Megyn Kelly Today, during which she and her panel discussed the claim by Avenatti’s client as well as her background. Avenatti has been telling news outlets that he wants his client to talk to the FBI, but Kelly and PBS’ Amy Holmes suggested that it may not even be in Swetnick’s best interest. That’s despite that Avenatti himself is “begging” for the FBI, and subsequent TV cameras, to come talk to him and his client, they said.

Kelly listed a number of issues with Swetnick’s credibility, including some legal issues, and Avenatti responded to that on Twitter. He called them “bogus legal actions” and accused Megyn Kelly of “attacking” a “sexual assault victim.” He said that Kelly “should be ashamed.”

Not too long after he posted, Kelly replied, saying that the #MeToo movement doesn’t protect accusers from answering serious questions. She said that while most women tell the truth, “not all do.”

There are no further replies in the Twitter beef yet, but it’s hard to imagine Avenatti isn’t going to try to turn this into an interview with Megyn on Today.
