After a first week filled with rough interviews and media battles, new NBC morning host Megyn Kelly received some guest love from the one and only Russell Brand.
The British comedian and actor made an appearance on Megyn Kelly Today to advertise his new book, Recovery: Freedom from Our Addictions. However, between telling his story of addiction recovery, he showered the former Fox News host with compliments — calling Kelly “beautiful,” “glorious,” and even saying “I love you in the daytime!” — as opposed to her old nightly political show.
Kelly responded with a big smile and a friendly laugh as Brand went on a positive rant, “Well done coming into the glorious light. You seem beautiful here! It’s like you’ve escaped — you’re like an escaped Stormtrooper who’s took his helmet off to reveal great beauty. You belong here, among the light.”
Brand capped off his appearance on Kelly’s show by continuing these kind words. “Congratulations to you, now that I’ve met you as an actual human being, I feel appalled that anyone would ever be rude to you. You’re glorious!” The actor said.
While these compliments from the world famous celebrity will certainly boost her media esteem, last week was a different story for Kelly. She took heat for bringing up 79-year-old Jane Fonda’s plastic surgery, making an awkward gay joke during a Will & Grace promotional segment, and even having a cameraman yell “shit!” during a live take.
Brand even posted a photo with Kelly on his Twitter account, praising the former Washington reporter for escaping “the Fox hole”:
