‘Migrant’ Roughed Up by Curtis Sliwa’s Guardian Angels During Hannity Interview Is Actually a New Yorker, Police Say
The New York Police Department revealed on Wednesday that a supposed “migrant” roughed up by Curtis Sliwa’s Guardian Angels during a live interview on Fox News was not actually a migrant after all.
Sliwa’s Guardian Angels ran off camera during an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity on Tuesday, before the camera turned to show them roughing up a man on a New York City sidewalk.
“Our guys have just taken down one of the migrant guys right here on the corner of 42nd and 7th,” Sliwa told Hannity as the incident went down. “They’ve taken over!”
Sliwa went on to accuse the man of shoplifting and claimed the Guardian Angels had spotted him, stopped him,” and then “gave him a little pain compliance.”
“His mother back in Venezuela felt the vibrations. He’s sucking concrete,” Sliwa said. “We gotta take 42nd Street back, Sean. These illegals think they own this street, they think they rule the night.”
On Wednesday afternoon, however, the New York Police Department revealed that the so-called “migrant” is actually a New Yorker from the Bronx.
An NYPD spokesperson told AP that police officers arrived on-scene to find the man “detained by bystanders” and were told that he had allegedly attempted to “disrupt” Sliwa’s interview.
“Police said the man was issued a disorderly conduct summons because he was acting in a loud and threatening manner on a public sidewalk,” the AP reported, adding the NYPD “provided no evidence to support the allegation” that the man had been shoplifting, as Sliwa claimed.
Sliwa himself was arrested in August 2023 outside New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ house after an anti-immigration protest reportedly descended into a brawl.
