MSNBC’s Joy Reid Pushes Congressman to Oppose All Legislation Until They Can Subpoena ‘Big Balls’
MSNBC’s Joy Reid declared “none of this makes sense” on Tuesday after pushing Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA) to subpoena either Elon Musk or a member of his DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) team popularly known as “Big Balls.”
Reid opened Monday’s ReidOut by red flagging the drastic government spending cuts being taken by DOGE, including losing agencies and employees, as well as some of its members, including 19-year-old Edward Coristine, known as a government “expert” despite his young age. According to a Wired report on his short history, Coristine previously used the pseudonym “Big Balls” online.
Reid also took issue with 25-year-old former DOGE staffer Marko Elez — reportedly set to be rehired by Musk — over his past bragging about being a racist, as well as Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, knocking him for his participation in the Real World tv series. Duffy is also a former congressman and a district attorney.
Reid said:
“Take a deep breath for just a moment and ponder Big Balls and the normalize Indian hate guy also taking control of the Federal Aviation Administration, meaning they control airline safety alongside Sean from the Real World: Boston, our transportation secretary. According to The Washington Post, part of the goal of this reorganization is to replace as many federal workers, humans as possible with AI and computers. If you enjoy automated customer service, you’re going to absolutely love your new Elonified government. And while Elon is working to make his life even easier, federal employees are being kept from doing their jobs.”
In a later interview with Garcia, Reid asked whether Democrats are ready to oppose absolutely every piece of legislation, including related to the federal budget, unless Musk, “Big Balls,” or others are allowed to be subpoenaed. A recent attempt by Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA) to subpoena Musk was shut down in committee by Republicans.
Without any votes on the budget, the government would be in danger of shutdown as federal funding currently dries up in mid-March.
Check out the exchange between Reid and Garcia below:
JOY REID: “Let me ask you this because Democrats are in the minority, so you have only so much leverage. Have you all essentially made it clear to Mike Johnson that until they allow you all to subpoena Big Balls and the normalize Indian hate guy, at least subpoena them or subpoena Elon Musk, no votes on the budget, no votes, no Democratic votes at all to keep the government open. That is leverage Democrats have theoretically right. Are you all prepared to use it?
ROBERT GARCIA: “Look, I think I think we’re very prepared to use all of our leverage. And I think that Leader Jeffries is in those conversations right now. I’m personally not interested in giving Republicans any votes for absolutely anything until we get actual answers and protect the American people’s public data and data that people are trusting us to have. And so I think we’ve got to continue to do those efforts and continue to shut down their meetings. I mean, just a few days ago, we were at the Department of Labor, the DOJ’s team was actually on its way to that meeting, but there were so many people there surrounding the building that they canceled their meetings. We’ve got to continue to show up to call it out to protest and commit not to work with Elon Musk, the Doge committee or any of these Republicans.”
REID: “I would love you to come back because I’d also like to know how members of Congress can enter a federal building that actually makes absolutely no sense to me. And we need to keep talking about this because none of this makes any sense.”
