MSNBC’s Terrible No Good Very Bad Day: Morning Joe Viewers Get a Lawrence O’Donnell Re-Run Due to Disastrous Tech Problems

Cable News giant MSNBC appears to be having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day, evidenced by the reruns aired over live programming Tuesday morning.
Viewers tuning in at 6 AM were greeted with a shot of the Capitol building and The Who’s “Teenage Wasteland” playing. This lasted for roughly a minute until internal promotions and commercials were aired on repeat until 6:07 — when a re-airing of Monday night’s Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell suddenly popped up without explanation.
Finally, at 6:12, Mika Brzezinski appeared with a brief apology to viewers for the slight delay, and normalcy resumed.
The tech issues actually started in the 5 AM hour during Way Too Early With Jon Lemire, which had garbled audio in the B Block. Monday’s The Rachel Maddow Show aired instead of the normal Jonathan Lemire live program.
Live television is difficult, and as the famous spoonerism reminds us, “pobody’s nerfect!” That said, 45 minutes is a long time for tech problems that require re-runs to go unresolved and a bit of a disaster for MSNBC.
