Obama Shares a Story at Anaheim Rally About the Time He Got Booted from Disneyland

Former President Barack Obama got California Democrats fired up at an Anaheim rally today, and he opened with a pretty crazy anecdote about the time he was booted from Disneyland.

Yes, you’re reading that correctly.

Obama talked up some candidates running for office and told the crowd in two months they can help bring some “sanity” back into politics, but not before sharing a fun story with everyone.

He briefly talked about the first time he went to Disneyland when he was 11––”I went and did all the ‘Bare Necessity’ thing and, you know, Small World, the Matterhorn, I mean, it was the bomb”––before sharing the next time he went when he was a college student.

The purpose of the trip that time was to see Kool & the Gang perform, Obama explained, but then this happened:

“After the concert, because we were teenagers––you could still kind of hang out in the park, so we went into the gondolas. And I’m ashamed to say this, so close your ears, young people, but a few of us were smoking on the gondolas. No, no, these were cigarettes, people. Terrible thing. At the time, I’m a teenager, I’m rebellious. As we’re coming in, there are two very large Disneyland police officers. And they say, ‘SIr, can you come with us?’ And they escorted us out of Disneyland. This is a true story, everybody. I was booted from the Magic Kingdom. But what I remember about it was at the end, they said, ‘You’re going to have to leave, sir, for breaking the rules of the Magic Kingdom, but you are welcome to come back anytime.’ Which I thought, well, that was nice of them.”
