Sarah Huckabee Sanders: White House Will Announce DACA Decision on Tuesday
Earlier this week, it was reported that President Donald Trump had decided that he was going to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). However, following that Fox News report, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Home Security advisor Tom Bossert both stated that no decision had been made yet.
With Trump not directly answering reporters’ questions today regarding DACA — choosing to just say that “we love the DREAMers” — Sanders was pressed at this afternoon’s press briefing over when a decision would be coming. And according to the press secretary, we will hear something next week.
“I just spoke with the president, and we’re in the process of finalizing that decision and those details and we’re actually going to make that announcement on Tuesday of next week,” Sanders said. “And the president’s priorities on immigration are to create a system that encourages legal immigration and benefits our economy and American workers.”
When asked if the president feels DREAMers are Americans, Sanders merely responded that they are finalizing the decision and they’ll walk through the next steps at that time.
Meanwhile, with the expectation that Trump will end DACA, prominent Republicans are calling on the president to reconsider.
