Another explosive week in politics, another episode of Saturday Night Live, another chance to mock the chaos in the cold open.
Tonight’s show began with a spoof of Fox & Friends, and the biggest issue on deck was the newly-released FISA memo. The curvy couch hosted interviews with White House communications director Hope Hicks and former Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, but it was only a matter of time before they got a call from their biggest fan: President Trump (played once again by Alec Baldwin).
Trump admits he’s watching the show to get his daily intelligence briefing, but he also interjected to boast about how great his ratings were from the State of the Union speech. As for the memo on supposed malpractice from the FBI, Trump thanked his “little house elf,” Devin Nunes, for exposing the bureau as the most biased agency in the history of time.
Eventually, Trump wanted to ask Fox hosts a question, and that led to this weird moment where they became the president’s personal cheerleaders:
Trump: Whose State of the Union had 10 billion people watching?
F&F: Yours did!
Trump: Who is the most innocent guy in the whole wide world?
F&F: You are sir.
Trump: One more time.
F&F: You are!
Trump: I can’t hear you!
F&F: You are!
Trump: (Sigh of relief) Daddy needed that.
