The View Jokes About ‘Conspiracy Theories’ That Whoopi Goldberg’s Secretly Prepping to Host Oscars

The View kicked off today addressing the “conspiracy theories on the internet” about Whoopi Goldberg secretly prepping to host the Oscars.

Goldberg has been absent from the show recently, and one Twitter theory has garnered a lot of attention:

Whoopi Goldberg’s absence from The View (she’s sick, they say) since the day after they announced her as an Oscar presenter+the fact that she’s the only previous Oscar host listed as a presenter+she openly said on The View in January that she’d be up for hosting=???

Goldberg has hosted the Academy Awards several times, most recently in 2002.

Joy Behar today opened by saying, “Whoopi’s still out, she’s not feeling well, and there are all these conspiracy theories on the internet that she’s not really sick. She’s secretly preparing to host the Oscars.”

The co-hosts joked a bit about other reasons Goldberg’s secretly out, with Behar “admitting” she’s actually on maternity leave.
