Trump Attorney Accuses Democrats of Doing Very Thing His Client Did: ‘Abuse the Power of Your Office’ to Interfere with ‘A Free and Fair Election’

An attorney for former President Donald Trump blasted Democrats and accused them of attempting to use their offices to mess with the presidential election.

Trump is the presumptive GOP nominee for president and is slated to face President Joe Biden in a rematch of the 2020 election, which the former president falsely claimed was rigged against him.

After losing the 2020 election, Trump infamously sought to overturn the results in states he lost by pressuring officials into subverting the election after the fact. In one instance, he demanded that Georgia’s secretary of state “find” 11,780 votes, which would have made him the winner of the state’s electoral votes.

The former president is on trial in four jurisdictions. He faces state charges in Georgia for trying to overturn the election there, and also federal charges for trying to overturn the results in various states. Moreover, Trump is under federal indictment for retaining government material after leaving office. Lastly, he has been charged in New York with falsifying business records and is currently on trial in Manhattan. He has pleaded not guilty to all counts.

Appearing on Monday’s Jesse Watters Primetime on Fox News, Trump lawyer Chris Kise said it is Democrats who are attempting to interfere in an election.

“Chris, what’s going on in this courtroom downtown?” Jesse Watters asked.

Kise replied:

Well, I think, you know, the Democrats claim that Trump is a threat to democracy. The real threat to democracy is the willingness to abuse the power of your office to influence what should otherwise be a free and fair election. And that’s exactly what’s going on downtown in the courtroom. I mean, look at just this week. You’ve got a hearing in a civil case about essentially nothing. You’ve got a criminal trial starting. And later this week, there’ll be a Supreme Court argument. All in cases that were made up specifically for the purpose of influencing the outcome of an election.
