For a while now, President Donald Trump has hit Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) by referring to her as “Pocahontas.” He has done this as a way of taking cracks at her over the controversy that had previously arisen over her Native American heritage.
Well, during a White House event honoring Native American code talkers today, Trump decided to once again mention his favorite Warren slam. Yes, you read that right. He used the slur with an audience of Native Americans.
“You’re very, very special people — you were here long before any of us were here,” the president said. “Although we have a representative in Congress who they say was here a long time ago. They call her Pocahontas.”
While placing a hand on the shoulder of one of the honorees, Trump told the man: “But you know what? I like you because you are very special.”
As one would imagine, there was an uncomfortable silence among the attendees in the room when he said that.
