President Donald Trump went after reporters and Democrats on Thursday when he used part of his White House press spray to wax on about crime and border security.
As the government shutdown moves into its 20th day, NBC’s Kirsten Welker asked Trump about the “human pain” government workers are experiencing from being laid off this long. Trump responded that the real pain is caused when Americans are victimized by criminal illegal immigrants, and thence pivoted into a slam on NBC.
“That’s the human pain, and the people that will be pained – but maybe a little bit later – those people, many of them are on my side. They want to see border security. And by the way, NBC may be the most dishonest reporters of all time.”
From there, Trump went on to bash Democrats over the gridlock from their refusal to support national security that involves funding his border wall. This led to him proclaiming that Democrats “don’t give a damn” about crime.
“The Democrats, which I’ve been saying all along. They don’t give a damn about crime. They don’t care about crime. They don’t care about gang members coming in and stabbing people and cutting people up. They don’t care about crime. And if they are not going to care about crime, then I agree, they shouldn’t do anything at but I care about crime and I care about drugs.”
As Trump continued to slam “crazy” Democrats and his other various opponents, Welker eventually got back by asking if the buck stops with him as far as the shutdown goes.
“The buck stops with everybody,” Trump said shortly before un-ironically saying “Compromise is in my vocabulary very strongly.”
