Trump on North Korea: If Sanctions Don’t Work, ‘We’ll Have to Go Phase Two’

During his joint press conference with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull this afternoon, President Trump indirectly talked about pursuing “Phase Two” with North Korea.

A reporter asked the President, “The sanctions––if they don’t work, are all options still on the table?”

“We’ll have to see,” Trump responded. “I don’t think I’m going to exactly play that card. But we’ll have to see. If the sanctions don’t work, we’ll have to go Phase Two. And Phase Two may be a very rough thing. May be very, very unfortunate for the world. But hopefully the sanctions will work.”
