WATCH: NBC’s Today Show Covers Sexual Misconduct Allegations Against Tom Brokaw
After two women accused veteran NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw of sexual misconduct, the Today show, NBC’s flagship morning program, covered the allegations on Friday morning.
Brokaw, the former longtime anchor of NBC Nightly News who now serves as a special correspondent, was accused in two reports out Thursday night of workplace sexual harassment.
One accuser, former NBC News correspondent Linda Vester, told The Washington Post and Variety that Brokaw had tried to forcibly grope and kiss her in the 1990s. The Post report also included two new allegations against former Today show anchor Matt Lauer.
As Hoda Kotb and Savanah Guthrie — who both once shared the Today show desk with Lauer — hosted the morning show, NBC National Correspondent Kate Snow presented a report on the accusations.
“Overnight, allegations have surfaced against longtime NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw and our former colleague Matt Lauer as well,” Snow reported. “Both men refute the allegations that are being made against them. Meanwhile, another former NBC anchor, Ann Curry, is speaking out, along with others, criticizing the NBC News division for what they say is an atmosphere that enabled sexual misconduct and made it difficult to report.”
The report went on to detail Vester’s allegations, which she described in a video published by Variety. Snow also presented the news on two new allegations against Lauer, as well as allegations made by Curry that NBC News ignored concerns about sexual harassment at the network.
