Labour extended its lead over the Conservatives among GB News viewers, according to a new survey by JL Partners that shows Labour with a 21 point lead.

The poll puts Labour up a further seven points from the previous month, now at 46 percent, while the Conservatives have dropped to 25 percent, down three points. Reform UK also saw a decline, slipping by two points to 18 percent.

The survey, conducted between May 29 and 31, 2024, involved 530 GB News viewers. Notably, only one in four GB News viewers had voted Labour in the 2019 election, indicating a substantial shift in voter preference. GB News host Nigel Farage and Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer remain the only positively viewed politicial voices with the demographic.

Meanwhile, Farage teases an “emergency General Election announcement” for late afternoon that many suspect that this could involve a potential candidacy for Reform UK.

With almost half of its viewers now supporting Labour, the poll underlines the challenge of reading into partisan polarisation in media in the UK, where viewers of a right-leaning news outlet like GB News can still show significant support for Labour, a traditionally left-leaning party.

It could further be seen to underscore why Labour politicians and other left-leaning voices are wise to appear on GB News as a valuable opportunity to engage with and influence a broad portion of the electorate.
