‘Mr. Nobody’: Keir Starmer Launches Brutal Takedown Of ‘Failed’ Prime Minister Rishi Sunak

Labour leader Keir Starmer tore into Prime Minister Rishi Sunak during Prime Minister’s Questions on Wednesday in Commons, labelling him “Mr. Nobody” and mocking his “flip-flops” in strategy.

“Mr Speaker, last year [Sunak] started the year saying he was Mr. Steady,” Starmer said, addressing the chamber. “Then, at his conference, he was Mr. Change. Now, he’s flipped back to Mr. More-Of-The-Same. It doesn’t matter how many relaunches, flip-flops he does, he’ll always be Mr. Nobody.”

“And here’s the tragedy of his leadership,” the opposition leader continued, “he spends the whole time trying to convince people not to believe their own eyes: pretending that debt is falling, that the economy is going gangbusters, the NHS is in great shape. When he finally finds something he was right about the Rwanda gimmick, he can’t even take credit for it.

The Labour leader then asked rhetorically: “When’s he going to stop pretending that up is down, that black is white? And admit that whether it’s the economy, immigration, the NHS, he has failed.”

Sunak, who said he’d delay calling a general election in the latter half of this year faced a serious roasting over his current campaign message to “stick to the plan” and maintain Conservative power.

It starkly contrasts with his October strategy, where he pitched himself as the candidate of “change,” a term he reiterated 30 times during the Conservative Conference speech. His first campaign event of the year boasted of “progress” on his five pledges to voters, yet he has achieved only one definitively – halving inflation.

As Britain edges closer to an election, Sunak’s fluctuating messaging and Starmer’s accusations set the stage for a showdown where identity and consistency could be deciding factors.
