Piers Morgan Demands Israel Stop ‘Indefensible’ Rafah Assault

Morgan took to X Monday to condemn the “slaughtering” of “innocent people as they cower in a refugee camp.”
Veteran journalist Piers Morgan demanded that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stop the ongoing military assault on Rafah in Gaza after the local Hamas-affiliated health ministry reported that Israeli airstrikes had killed at least 45 people, including women and children.
Morgan took to X on Monday to condemn the bombing and comment that “slaughtering so many innocent people as they cower in a refugee camp is indefensible.”
In response to criticism from some pro-Israeli accounts that the IDF had carried out precision strikes, Morgan replied: “It wasn’t very precise.”
He also shot back at media host Rabbi Shumley’s reply that he was being “sanctimoniousness and self-righteousness” by arguing that when the Irish Republican Army (IRA) bombed targets in the UK in the 1970s and 1980s, the British government didn’t respond by dropping “2000lb bombs on Belfast because the terrorists were living among civilians.”
Graphic videos from scenes following the Israeli bombing on Sunday evening circulated on social media showing fires and bodies at the site. Following the attack humanitarian medical organisation Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) called for a ceasefire, echoing sentiments from the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees UNWRA which called the attack “horrifying.”
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed they had targeted two senior Hamas officials, and said it would review reports of civilian casualties.
The airstrike occurred hours after Hamas fired eight rockets from Rafah towards Tel Aviv, marking the first attack on the city since January. Most rockets were intercepted, but one damaged a house north of Tel Aviv.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) had recently ordered Israel to halt its military offensive in Rafah, where many civilians are sheltering.
Israel’s ongoing military campaign in Gaza aims to dismantle Hamas following the group’s October 7 attack on southern Israel, killing around 1,200 Israelis and taking 252 others hostage.
