Trump Tweets About Summit Amidst Wild Slams on GOP Rep, Robert De Niro: ‘Got Along Great With Kim’
President Donald Trump sent out a series of tweets on Tuesday recapping his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
The pair met in Singapore for a summit on denuclearization on Monday, and struck an agreement that was wheeled out with much aplomb, but was vague on the details or serious commitments. In it, Kim committed (again) to denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, and the U.S. offered vague security guarantees in return.
Trump then left back to the United States aboard Air Force One, and issued a set of tweets edifying his big summit (but not before brutally roasting Rep. Mark Sanford, a Republican incumbent who is facing an election today, over his decade-old affair).
“Heading back home from Singapore after a truly amazing visit,” Trump tweeted. “Great progress was made on the denuclearization of North Korea. Hostages are back home, will be getting the remains of our great heroes back to their families, no missiles shot, no research happening, sites closing…”
“…Got along great with Kim Jong-un who wants to see wonderful things for his country. As I said earlier today: Anyone can make war, but only the most courageous can make peace! #SingaporeSummit.”

The tweets echoed the president’s warm words for his North Korean counterpart in Singapore during the summit, who he described in glowing terms, much to the chagrin of the foreign policy establishment not used to presidents hailing brutal dictators. The Art of the Deal? We shall see… (Probably not).
