John McCain – Robert Duvall

Both are hard-boiled vets from a bygone time where men had little patience with the sensitive sides of anything. Duvall has great range, but playing the part of McCain would require him to go back to his role as The Great Santini. It helps that Duvall is a proud Republican and supported McCain in the 2008 race.

Cindy McCain – Amy Poehler

There is a significant age difference here, but there is no question about Amy Poehler’s ability to act. Plus, Poehler’s role in Mean Girls seems to be a suitable experience here. Finally, if Poehler is cast, that improves the chances of also casting…
