Anderson Cooper Rips Ed Martin in Heated Russia Debate: ‘What You’re Talking About is Gobbledygook’
Anderson Cooper and President Donald Trump surrogate Ed Martin got into a heated debate over the Russia probe during Wednesday’s Anderson Cooper: 360
At issue was the report that special counsel Robert Mueller is requesting information relating to controversial actions of Trump’s since taking office — including a meeting with Russian officials the day after FBI Director James Comey was fired. Cooper quizzed Martin on the reported 13 specific aspects of the investigation — and wanted Martin to admit that Trump himself is now under investigation.
“Assuming it is true, and this information has been requested, and the special counsel is looking for 13 separate tracks on this, does that not indicate to you that the president is under investigation?”
Martin dodged.
“Assuming it’s true that Trump won the election –” Martin said. Cooper promptly interjected.
“What you’re talking about is gobbledygook,” Cooper said. “You’re just not answering my question.”
“No! What you’re talking about is gobbledygook!” Martin fired back. He added, “I won’t assume it’s true.”
“Okay,” Cooper said, clearly frustrated.
That exchange was just one part of a heated four-minute debate in which a number of the AC:360 panelists went after Martin.
Later, Cooper took a shot at Martin’s courage — or lack thereof.
“So until you hear from the White House on everything, you don’t feel free, or brave enough to actually comment on anything,” he said.
“Oh, come on,” Martin said — seeming to take particular offense to the word brave.
